Montessori Credentials

Our head directresses either hold certification from accredited educational institutions or are undertaking Montessori training certification, and every classroom head teacher either holds a Montessori credential or is working toward one.

Early Childhood Education

Our teachers have academic experience in early childhood education, though not all hold Early Childhood Education certification. Staff beginning Montessori studies are required to have an academic degree and experience in early childhood education.

Ongoing Training

Staff train annually and monthly on school policy and practice, and take part in continued learning on early childhood development.

Safety Certified

Head staff and much of the assistant staff are CPR certified, First Aid trained, and Choking/Heimlich trained, as well as trained in food preparation and sanitation.

Our Story

Founded in 1993
by two educators

Dr. Peter and Gwen Ku were both educated in Seoul and the United States, earning bachelor’s and master’s degrees in education. After further Montessori training, Gwen taught in suburban Montessori schools and noticed how few of them served a genuinely diverse student body.

They opened Wonder Montessori in October 1993 with two three-to-six classrooms on North Pulaski Road. At the request of families, the school grew to add a Toddler & Two’s program and an Infant & Toddlers program.
